Home-Based & Infant Mental Health Services
What We Do
Our Home-Based and Infant Mental Health programs help children and families who are facing emotional or mental health challenges. We come to you—offering support right in your home or another place that works best for your family. Our goal is to strengthen families, support healthy child development, and help children stay safely at home and in school.
Who We Help
- Children and teens under age 21 with emotional or behavioral struggles
- Infants and toddlers (ages 0–3) and their parents
- Families who need extra support to stay together or reunite
- Parents with mental health needs that affect their ability to care for their child
How We Help
We work with families to build on their strengths. We focus on helping parents and children:
- Build stronger relationships
- Learn new skills for managing emotions and behavior
- Get connected to school and community resources
- Avoid out-of-home placements like foster care or hospitalization
What Services Are Offered
- One-on-one and family counseling
- Parenting support and coaching
- Help during a crisis
- Referrals to other services
- Skills training to improve everyday life
Services usually happen at home, but we can also meet at your child’s school, our office, or another place that works for you. Most families get at least 4 hours of support per month. We offer appointments Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and have 24/7 crisis help available if needed.
For Parents of Infants and Toddlers
Our Infant Mental Health program supports parents with babies and young children up to age 3. We focus on the bond between you and your child and help you feel confident in your parenting. Services are gentle, supportive, and never judgmental.
How to Get Started
You can request services by calling us. A parent or legal guardian must give permission for a child to receive services. After we meet with you, we’ll talk about your family’s needs and make a plan together.
Who Can Join?
To qualify, a child must:
- Live in Gratiot County
- Be under age 21
- Have a serious emotional challenge or behavioral struggles that impact,
- Home
- School
- In the community
- Need services that are medically necessary
- Be able to benefit from home-based care
- Have a parent or guardian who agrees to take part
Some parents may also qualify if their own mental health is affecting how they care for their child.
If You Don’t Qualify
If a child or family doesn’t meet the requirements, we’ll explain why and help connect you to other services that may be a better fit.
When Services End
You can stop services at any time, or we may recommend a different kind of care based on your family’s progress or needs. Some reasons services may end include:
- Your family meets your goals
- You request to stop
- The child or family needs a different type of help
- You no longer meet eligibility requirements
We always help with the next steps if a change is needed.
